Perceptions

Perceptions are like clothes…either they make you feel good or uncomfortable……choosing the right ones is what creates that difference. Do we choose because others do or do we choose because we believe in our choice. We can either say My Perceptions choose and define me OR I choose my Perceptions and I define them…..What do you say and are you comfortable with your’s?? ~ Celestine Rhythm

There are two ways in which our perceptions take birth. One is – in life we very often get carried away by what people who are close to us believe in and often adopt them as our own perceptions OR the other way is when we create our own perceptions by learning to examine the cause and effects in our lives…… now this largely depends on our experiences.

Some examples of Perceptions: “If a person has a certain body type only then they can be agile or not” , “If you want to win, you have to be aggressive”, “Unless you prove your supremacy, people will take you for granted” or on the other end ” You should keep quiet if you someone is screaming at you else you will further aggravate them”, ” The best way to show your love is by accepting what the other person wants from you at all times” and the third kind, ” If you want people to respect you, you need to respect them”, ” The solution to all problems in life is Love”, “Everyone acts according to the best of their abilities at a given point in time”.

Oh! there are a gazillion perceptions whether adopted or created which become beliefs in our life and then we live by them. Like everything else, our Perceptions can add value to our lives as well as deplete value from our lives. What we need to understand is Perceptions create beliefs and beliefs create our realities and the sooner we begin to questions our beliefs, the sooner we will be able to create our own realities in which we can thrive. One thing that needs to be mentioned is that even if our Perceptions are adopted, we have seen it work in some way or the other for it to have become part of our mind. Then what we really need to determine is whether the Perception that we have allowed our mind to believe, is it limiting us in any way?? If you tend to feel uncomfortable, unfulfilled, scared and most of all if you hear that teeny tiny voice telling you “Something’s not right” (this last one will most certainly make you feel disconnected with yourself)………………then it’s time to start examining your Perception which obviously is the seed that sprouts the Beliefs which gives birth to the Reality…………now the obvious question is how???

Well I started by increasing my awareness…..so right after I would do something which triggered any of those feelings, I would ask myself….allright what was I thinking right before taking that step….was it my thought or did I adopt it…either way what had happened to allow this thought in my mind. I got all kinds of answers….some were on the lines of ” Well, my parents, friends or a close person always believed it and it worked for them so I believe it too” and some other were on the lines of ” Actually, it is easier for me to believe this and this helps me makes sense of why this happens or doesn’t happen to me” while the first one did not make me feel great, it is the second type that took me a while to reconcile with….. as it meant that I was either scared to face the Truth or that the Truth made me responsible of an action that I did not want to be responsible for.

I am not saying that this is an immediate fix but it is that proverbial “First Step” only this is the real deal…………..the literal First Step.

We will often not even know why we do certain things…only that we do them……with employing this practice of questioning our thoughts which always precedes these actions, we begin to examine that elusive “WHY” and once we find that out….it’s simply accepting it or discarding it. Like any habit, our thinking patterns will also take time to change but with the right focus and training we can change those Perceptions which limit us and replace them with the ones that makes us feel whole, happy and most of all connected to ourself. This will help you claim your True Power, Your Inner Power which helps you to  create your realities.

So if you have been reading this and some images have been flashing through your mind, I urge you to start with this practice …………..the best part is you can keep the ones that work for you anyway……………only discard those which do not fulfill you. You are the best judge of that as this is your life and your journey.

Shadows

We cannot ignore the shadows, they will follow us everywhere…so let’s ensure that we are aware of our shadows. The more aware we are of our shadows, the sooner we will be able to deal with them and the lesser they will be able to scare us. After all it’s the way our mind defines shadows…. as “Monsters”  which scare us or as “Shadow-Shapes” we can play around with.

Speaking of shadows, we also have shadows of our past, now…. these could be from when we were toddlers or young kids…..what’s worth knowing is, do they render us hopeless, scared, caught up in a frenzy of emotions because if they do then it is imperative for us to remove them. Just to give you an analogy, our grave fear or heights actually might be a shadow from the past where may be we saw, felt or heard something that had such a huge impact on us that it manifested as a phobia. We have a unique internal reference code system that translates all of our external experiences and stacks them in our mind. Each Neuron in our brain has a charge and that is what creates our patterns, behaviors, beliefs….well pretty much our life trajectory. Awareness is the key to releasing ourselves from patterns which adversely affect us. It is interesting to note how some kids are terrified of the boogeyman under the bed while others find it a nice cover when playing hide and seek.

More often than not fear is an absence of the “known” rather than the presence of the “unknown”. When our left brain is unable to analyse or find logic in any given situation, it resorts to creating an alternate reality which then becomes our belief or it accepts the reality as presented by someone else without really determining it’s validity….this is especially true for our formative years; most of our beliefs are created during this time. Also a huge factor is what we absorb from our environment, what we are told as kids, the behavior we witnessed of people around us while growing up….everything that we see. Whether we remember it consciously or not, it gets stored in our mind and it moulds our lives. One way or the other, every waking moment we are absorbing a serious amount of information and our mind processes it and stores it. What we choose to bring to our consciousness and resolve, release or completely accept is upto us.

What needs to be mentioned is that we certainly do have good beliefs as well in life which are the corner stones of our success. It is the limiting beliefs that we need to be able to remove from our system. Now the good news is, no matter what the shadow / belief is, how it was formed or how debilitating it is, it can be removed from our psyche. Today we are so much more aware of the power with in. Our consciousness has expanded so much; whatever we need to know can be accessed from within. It is like having our very own Master-Key to unlock the most complex of locks. All we need to do is be curious and observant of our own thought patterns, behavior antics and reactions; the next step is to question it….now this is what cracks the foundation of such beliefs, from there to finally shattering that belief structure which does not serve us in any way…any longer becomes a possibility.

Someone once told me that if you really want to find an answer, look at the right direction……….which is “With-In”

I have lived this and I got help when I finally decided to look within….. so one more thing that I firmly believe is that “When the student is ready, the Teacher appears”
